Join Auckland’s biggest street party with a course filled with entertainment as you move and groove and walk, jog, run or roll from the city to St Heliers along Tāmaki Drive. At the finish line, collect your well-deserved finisher's medal, a cool drink and enjoy the after-party.
Gather your friends, whanau or work colleagues, enjoy some vitamin sea, and get amongst a fun run like no other. Are you in?
Auckland Joggers Club (AJC) President, Eric Woods, and Auckland's Mayor and AJC founding member, Colin Kay, started the event in 1972 with over 700 participating in the 'fun run'. The Auckland Joggers Club is dedicated to promoting fitness and fostering friendships across generations. They provide programmes for those who want to start running - their beginners programme was originally created to help those who wanted to participate in the Round the Bays fun run, and support those who just want to get better and running or want to keep healthy.
Since then the core bones have not changed. The joint partnership between the Auckland Joggers Club and Stuff Events still drives Round the Bays Auckland forward.

For 2026, the Round the Bays theme goes ELEMENTAL — a celebration of the wild natural forces that shape Aotearoa. Each location honours a different element:
In Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, channel the heat of Fire as you blaze past the mighty Rangitoto.
In Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, embrace the power of Wind as it lifts you through the capital’s iconic waterfront.
And in Ōtautahi Christchurch, flow with the rhythm of Water alongside rivers, estuaries and open skies.
Whether you run with fire, move with the wind or roll with the tide — this is your chance to bring the elements to life.
Join us along Tāmaki Drive in Auckland on Sunday 8 March 2026. Take part with your friends, whānau and colleagues or sign up as part of a team.
